While not everybody wants to take the plunge and enjoy oysters, we think the following advantages could change your mind if you’re healthy conscious.
Especially if you eat them wild, raw, or steamed, there are only about 50 calories in a total of six oysters. Want them breaded or fried? This is less healthy but you’re still only on the hook for 175 calories.
Each oyster contains about 2g of protein. Taken in a six-pack, that’s 12 g of protein or roughly the equivalent of 2 oz of meat. Oysters are a lot less filling and have lower calories than meat, so more room to enjoy.
Some of the most important vitamins can be found in oysters. This includes Vitamin D, Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Iron, and Vitamin B12. So, if you can’t get enough sunlight and are starving for Vitamin D, why not give oysters a try?
Believe it or not, oysters might help your love life by promoting sexual vitality. This is possible because of the copious amounts of zinc found in oysters. This may not be a perfectly direct connection, but for so many men who struggle with impotence, oysters could help bridge the nutrient gap and enable healthy sexual function once again.
It’s better to steam them rather than fry them or eat them raw. They can be made into a delicious dish by mixing with olive oil or a tomato-based sauce. Above all considerations, always eat them fresh!
Remembering to eat your oysters fresh is the perfect segue to . . .
